a well respected van
So after being up since 7am and dealing with New York City's DMV and the insurance company I'm now in the final processes of registering and owning a van (split 7 ways... between two bands)! It was by far the most stressful thing I've dealt with in my life, in and out of the DMV five times, the original notary had the guy who was selling it and myself sign in the wrong spot and the identical insurance letter I presented to four people was not sufficient enough until the end of the day. FUCK!!!
And now, after taking the day off from work to deal with this, I'm far too exhausted to enjoy the fact that I came out in the end, victorious!! Anyways, here's some sketchbook bullshit to alleve tension:

Some Stuff
So the good people at Atomic Books in Baltimore, MD have Crooked Teeth and The Archer for sale on their website, if you feel like ordering with a credit card or paypal or something!
ATOMIC BOOKS
And a very exciting review from Mr. Eric Reynolds of Fantagraphics books had this to say:
"CROOKED TEETH 2 & 3 and THE ARCHER by Nate Doyle. Nate Doyle was one of the most impressive discoveries at SPX for me. All three of these comics are very good, and The Archer is easily one of the best self-published comics I've read in 2008. Search him out."
Fantagraphics Blog
Lots of band stuff recently, so unfortunately the comics are coming slowly, I'll post more soon and if anyone would like to get directly in touch, feel free to email me welfare_nate(at)yahoo.com
Thanks

sketchbook sinkhole
More weird hand things, hah, I dunno.
Things have been busy, two nights of playing drums and the WFMU record fair was yesterday, with such exciting purchases of two Sinkhole LPs and a Rice LP as well as an old Maximum RocknRoll compilation "They Don't Get Paid, They Don't Get Laid, But Boy Do They Work Hard" which has Nausea and then Screeching Weasel on it, hahah. I'm just going to put up some things I've been working on recently, like sketchbook stuff and starting the second chapter in the so far untitled story that's ongoing in Crooked Teeth...Yup! Lemme know what you think of this color shit, I might keep doing it, it's fun and pretty theraputic!

...
Lately I've had a hard time getting myself motivated, and this comic sort of goes into that. As of now I'm going to try and draw more just to stay on top of myself and to hopefully improve. Using color has helped a lot, so there will be more color in comics, illustrations (and I guess that means posts) and whatnot to come. I will once again try and do a comic a day, or at least a drawing to put up here for whoever reads this to ignore or post comments about! Yeah, also I'm contributing to the Sparkplug Comic Books blog doing reviews of minicomics that they distribute or publish, check it out at http://www.sparkplugcomicbooks.com/sparkplugblog.html

SPX 2008
Hey I'm one foot out the door ready to leave New York for Bethesda, MD, and since I have the minute, though I'd let whoever reads this know that CROOKED TEETH #3 IS OUT AS OF NOW!!! Send me an email if you'd like one or just ask me in person, I'm going to try and have five copies of it and issue two on me at all times...Let's see how that pans out!

Back from the Wilderness
Getting stuck on a mountain in a thunderstorm/cloud...You could feel the electricity and being soaked and the tallest thing in the area was not all that reassuring. So we huddled by some large rocks and got drenced all the more in Baxter State Park, 700 miles from the house I live in here in Brooklyn. Hopefully more work will be posted more frequently!!

MoCCA Report...? Uh, yeah
So MoCCA went well, 73 copies of The Archer were sold/traded/given away so that was a pleasant surprise! Crooked Teeth#2 might get a cover overhaul since the first was so rushed and I'm not too psyched on it...So who knows!
This was the most inspiring comics event I think I've ever been too, I got so many great new minis that I can't wait to read and re-read. Now I want to start on a new story already for whenever....So I guess I'll post some sketch book stuff or whatever from now on, alright?

MoCCA and The Archer
So I'm scrambling hard to finish the last two pages(out of 21) of The Archer and it's cover, which will be a two color screen print on cardstock, for MoCCA which is next weekend! Also I'm putting out a second issue of Crooked Teeth! This one will NOT be a throw away and will be reprinted after a run of 200 or so...Lots of work to do this week. Here's what the cover will roughly look like for The Archer...It's based on some medival drawings I found, I'm pretty pleased with it, so that's a plus! More news later!

GRINDER
I'm trying to get an idea of how to use this thing to my advantage, as a website, contact and everything else, I guess I'll start by posting a page from my upcoming comic "The Archer" which is a story told in three parts and points of view for David Mazzuchelli's portfolio class. Check it out: Other than attempting to stay busy to avoid feeling totally exhausted emotionally I'm taking some steps to hopefully maintain a sane and healthy state of mind for whatever the fuck I'm going to do after school...
